con nuevos bríos [idiom]- [to start afresh] with renewed energy
The weekend. What a wonderful invention, eh? Two days off, to disconnect from the daily grind, so we can come back and start the week with renewed energy and a fresh perspective.
A couple of weeks ago, toward the end of a busy week, a client told me he had more translation work to send me. I told him that’s wonderful thank you but I would need to take the weekend off work before starting afresh. This particular client is so flexible and accommodating. He held off from sending me the work until the Monday, when he emailed saying, “Espero que hayas disfrutado del fin de semana y que hayas entrado en esta nueva con nuevos bríos“. I have such lovely clients. 🙂
Today, however, I’m still reeling from my country’s decision to leave the EU last week. Instead of resting and putting my feet up over the weekend, I partied until the wee small hours at my brother-in-law’s wedding. I spent any free moments searching the Internet, desperately trying to make head or tail of what was going on back home in the UK. I’m feeling a bit cream-crackered right now, to be honest. I think I’d better go for a Monday morning dip in the pool and maybe then I’ll be ready to start the week “con nuevos bríos“.
